Dr. Sats Pillay - Port Elizabeth
Sats Pillay was born in Queenstown and completed his undergraduate
degree at the Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin, Ireland in 1978.
He returned to South Africa to do his Internship at King Edward
VIII Hospital, Durban before moving to the Eastern Cape to work
as a Medical Officer at Livingstone Hospital, Port Elizabeth and
Frontier Hospital, Queenstown.
He did his Fellowship training at Groote Schuur Hospital, Cape Town
and returned to Port Elizabeth in 1992 where he is Head of the Department
of Surgery, Port Elizabeth Metropole Hospitals.
He has been Chairperson of ASSA since 2000 and is President of the
Local Organising Committee of the World Congress of Surgery (ISW
2005) to be held in Durban, August 2005.
Sats is the current South African representative at the International
Society of Surgery (ISS/SIC) and the Pan African Association of
Surgeons. He is also a Senior Lecturer of the University of Cape
Town and Transkei, an ATLS instructor, Basic Surgical Skills Course
director and does limited private practice in Port Elizabeth. |
