From 1st January 2010
the latest version of CPT in South Africa
(CCSA2010) came into operation. This resulted in
major changes to the relative value units (RVU)
of procedures. In addition a correction to the
rand conversion factor has been implemented to
effect a 9.5% increase overall above last year's
remuneration status.
Medihelp CPT Payout (guaranteed
to the surgeon) is significantly above the base
rate paid by most Schemes. Medihelp will advise
the surgeon if an account is rendered below
guaranteed rate so that a revised account can be
submitted; if overcharge on the account the
guaranteed amount as per contract will be paid
direct to the surgeon and the excess must be
discounted and not claimed from the patient.

Medihelp contract
Please download the
master database for 2010 CPT billing to be used
for Medihelp accounts as from 1st January 2010.
This is a comprehensive tabulation for most
disciplines. A simplified version as well as an
indexed, printable 2010 e-booklet in pdf format
is nearing completion and will be made available
in the next few days.
The simplified list
used last year is available to assist in looking
up codes, but the unit values have changed and a
6.5% increase applied.
The Surgicom
Office Assistant can still be used to look up
ICD10 codes, billing guides and guidelines.
